Palette image from SMH
Okay, so I was on Stars Makeup haven to check on their single eyeshadows, because I remembered that on May 25th their would be 36 new eyeshadows – but when I went to look, it was delayed until June 1st. I got a free full size eyeshadow in “Smoke And Mirrors” and I really like it. Very smooth, pigmented and blends very well. I seriously recommend this more than the 88 palettes and the 96 palettes because if you run out – you can always buy a refill pan unlike the other palettes where when you run out of your favorite color, that’s it.

I’m writing this mini review because honestly, I’m more of a palette person now since I bought the 88 palettes. I don’t like the bulkiness of different eyeshadows and its difficult to store them since I have a small room, so I have like one storage bin for my makeup. Plus, those who like good quality makeup without making a dent in your wallet – these eyeshadows are perfect for you. I also think that SMH has good prices – though some prices were raised on certain products, but they’re still afforadble. You can get Stila, Too Faced and MAC pigment samples (even discontinued and limited edition!) as well and much more. Also, did I mention their brushes are pretty good (not to mention cheap!) and their palettes are cheaper than Coastal Scents? *smiles* They also ship internationally and its really good (about $5 bucks or so for international shipping). So do go check that out. Bye lovlies!

Hey dearies! Here’s the haul post I promised. Nothing big, but I just wanted to share what I bought and if there’s anything you would like to know, or if maybe you want a review on a certain product, let me know!

What I purchased:
– Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
– Merlot Grapeseed Moisturizer
Loew Cornell
– Storage Cups (Great for use with pigments and mixing medium)
– Makeup Remover Towelettes
Sonia Kashuk
– Highlighting Brush (Stippling Brush)
Studio Tools
– Smudge Eyeshadow Brush
– Makeup Removing & Cleansing Sponges
– Black & White Eyeliner
– Clear Top Coat Nail Polish
– Eyeshadow in Rich Vanilla
– B23 All Purpose Brush
– B12 Crease Brush
– B15 Smokie Brush
– 2 Felt Tip Eyeliner Pens in Jet Black & Dark Brown
– CB05 Rouge Cream Blush in Glow
– Get Even in #02
– Erase Paste in #02
– “That Gal” Brightening Face Primer

Let’s start with skin care first.

I am absolutely in love with these two items. I used the mask for about 3 days, and my pores have significantly gotten smaller! LOVE! I really like the moisturizer too – it absorbs into skin really quick, and you don’t even need that much on your face. I’m going to be writing more about this in my next post.

Sonia Kashuk Highlighting Brush

This is a really good brush, and by looking at the caption I put yes – I do use this for mineral makeup as well. This is because I find that it really evens out the application. For example, sometimes I put too much on my forward and chin, I would swirl this brush around and the synthetic white fibers would take away the excess. Very soft, and great for cream blushes and liquid/cream foundation. Its not flimsy either, which is also good.

Benefit “That Gal”

I’ve always wanted to try this because I really liked the packaging. Plus, I’ve never seen a pink primer (my Bare Escentuals one is clear) before. Actually, after I bought this, I found a similar primer at Target by I think the brand was Pixi (?) – I don’t remember, I have to check back on that.

Benefit “Get Even” & “Erase Paste”

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with Erase Paste – I thought it was a little bigger. I don’t think this was worth 28 dollars, really. Nonetheless, its really creamy and works fairly well. Get Even is very smooth and does not appear chalky.

Now onto my NYX products! 🙂 Here’s the package it came in.

I do appreciate that they take care of their items, because I know my products would be in top condition when it reaches me. I’m from California and I believe NYX is located in L.A., and it took about a week and a few days to arrive.

Okay, now with the brushes. I was a bit disappointed because a lot of the things on their website (including swatches) don’t look the same as they do in person. So I do recommend to anyone who has not tried NYX and want to order, do go look around for swatches before ordering anything. Also, for their eyeshadows, anything that has the name “HOT” before it – watch out, it can be a bit chalky. Anyway, the B23 All Purpose brush was shown to be much shorter and I was planning to use it with the pencil technique. But it wasn’t flat enough for my taste, though it still works. The B15 Smokie brush was too fat and full to be a pencil brush, so I’m going to be using that for blending instead. The B12 crease brush is perfect for my eyes and it fits perfectly into my crease. So I recommend the crease brush.

I use the Sonia Kashuk brush with the cream blush and it works great. I don’t even need a ton – just one dab into that blush and I’m good for both cheeks! The blush highly pigmented so anyone who wants to try out NYX’s cream blushes, do use a light hand and gradually build the color. I really recommend buying “Glow” because it will give you that nice natural rosy flush. I also adore the pen liner – its way better than the L’Oréal one (IMO) and its really rich in color. Great to put in your purse or travel bag.

So, that’s it for this haul! I’m not going to talk about the other things I bought since there’s really not much to say about it. I also ordered some things from Stars Makeup Haven (I bought my palettes from there!) and I was planning to order from E.L.F (this would be my first time puchasing their stuff!). I was interested in their Studio brushes (I’m a brush fanatic – so don’t mind me, haha) and I was looking at some things and I’m not sure what to buy. So any recommendations would be awesome, thanks! ♥

Next post would probably be a haul about the Benefit items I purchased as well as the Merlot moisturizer, so do look out for that! Hope you have a great day and weekend (for those who’s last day of school is today), and take care!

I rarely use L’Oréal products because I think some of their products are overpriced at times, but I saw this and wanted to try it out. But sadly, I was in for a disappointment.

I believe I bought this for 6 dollars, but don’t quote me on that because I don’t remember. You can see in the picture below that its a marker-type of eyeliner and its said to be “smudge proof and mistake proof”. Let me tell what a friend of mine would say to this, “Boo-Siet!”. This is by far the worst eyeliner I’ve ever tried.

I meant to put “feels like a marker” instead of looks like a marker, haha. Anyway, the marker is supposed to be able to produce thin as well as thick lines, but as you can see on my hand, I couldn’t really draw with it. I have a bit of a shakey hand so this eyeliner was just a bother. The tip is pretty hard and it poked me a few times as well. The pen has to lay on its side in order for the ink flow to come out smoothly. The color payoff isn’t really great either. I know the picture’s small but, if you were use the eyeliner, it would appear “see-through” and I always had to layer it. All in all, I don’t recommend this to anyone at all. The only pen-type eyeliners I do recommend are from Cover Girl and NYX.

Well, my small collective haul is coming up so do come back for that! Until then, take care dearies!

So I’m sure you all know about Spinlash (Rotating Mascara Applicator) and some of its raves. And now, Maybelline is introducing a vibrating mascara called, “Pulse Perfection” by DEFINE-A-LASH. Here’s what it claims:

  • Patent-pending elastomer brush vibrates 7,000 times per stroke
  • Provides clump-free definition, intense color, and shine
  • Waterproof; also available in washable formula
  • Builds lash volume, length, and adds curl
  • Buildable formula
  • Contact lens safe

It’s battery-powered and you just press and hold the button until you get your desired look. There are two shades, 00 Blackest Black and 01 Very Black.

You can find this mascara at CVS, Target, Walmart, Walgreens and online. To look see how the mascara works, you can view the video here on Maybelline.

Anyone feeling this product? I’m not sure if I want to purchase this or not. I hated the Spinlash when it came out and I didn’t understand what the hype was about. But can’t wait to read and watch reviews on it though!

P.S. I also recieved my NYX package two days ago! And I must say, for just 6 products – the packaging’s pretty crazy. I was surprised how big the box was, lol. So next post is a collective haul! Stay Tuned!

It’s been so long! School really sucks, I have finals this week and I haven’t even finished my project final for my design class. Anywho, enough about that – let’s talk our next youtuber, Nireyna. She’s located in Ukraine and I must say – she’s one super talented makeup artist. She is one of the few people that I’ve seen master the pencil technique beautifully and I wish I could be half as good as her one day. She’s one of the most creative people I know on youtube and her channel definitely deserves a visit. She also has a website called, Beauty Art and I must say, her work is seriously a piece of art.

UPDATE: Nireyna’s channel was hacked (I swear some people have no life at all) and right now Nireyna has a new channel and is currently uploading her old videos (She had over 200! I’d be so pissed). So any of you who enjoy her videos and was her subscriber, please do give her a visit at BeautyARTStudio.

Pigments, loose shadows – whatever you want to call them, they’re all work the same way. Apply it alone for a sheer color, apply over a shadow to add dimension or tone down a color, or use a mixing medium to intensify it. I mentioned in my first haul post that I bought NYC Sparkle Eye Dust, and now I bring you swatches and my take on them.

I bought two Sparkle Eye Dusts, one in Champagne and one in Pink Champagne. I bought them because I thought that they would be nice highlighters and they were. Champagne was a nice golden brown color and is great if you want that natural golden sheen for your lids. Pink Champagne was a nice shimmery light ruby color and I love using it to tone down and blend darker colors.

The only problem I had using these eye dusts were that they can appear flaky and chalky. So I really recommend using a good base like a cream color base or and eye shadow primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance if you don’t already. I’m alright with this product, but most likey I won’t be buying this again.
