Benefit Bad Gal Mascara

Sometimes I get afraid of mascaras since they’re the reason why I don’t have many lashes anymore. I use to have thick lashes and certain mascaras that I’ve used in the past caused my lash loss. So I’m pretty picky now when it comes to mascaras. But I’ve been hearing a lot of people raving about Benefit’s Bad Gal Mascara (US$19), so I decided to give it a shot.
Let’s start with the packaging.
I got the waterproof version. Its pretty slim, which I like since it can easily fit in your purse. I also like how the brush is curved unlike the regular formula. I put it next to my Sonia Kashuk spoolie brush so you can see the difference a bit. The brush makes easier for me to get in the inner corner of my eyes without poking my eye out. Its thicker outside and a little thinner inside.
When applied, it doesn’t weigh my lashes down after a few coats and doesn’t seem to clump like most waterproof mascaras would. I like how it defines, lengthens and separates my lashes as well. I love how it looks natural.
I’m sorry about the redness around my eyes. My allergies were acting up a little bit. Anyway, when wearing mascaras, my eyes tend to get irritated when I wear it all day. I’m happy to say that with this mascara, my eyes weren’t irritated at all. Though at the end of the day, I felt that my lashes were a bit dry. Maybe it might be different if a lash primer was used.
Normally, I wouldn’t use waterproof mascaras mainly because most of the ones I’ve tried always smudged on me. Plus, they’re such a pain to remove. With this mascara, I didn’t experience any smudging at all. I used my Target makeup remover (the Almay brand burned my eyelids – this Target brand worked much better!), and it removed all the mascara off my lashes. I like it and do recommend it to those who are still looking for a good waterproof mascara.
PROS: Lengthens, separates, smudge-proof & can be easily removed
CONS: Lashes can feel dry and stiff at the end of the day
