Sometimes I get afraid of mascaras since they’re the reason why I don’t have many lashes anymore. I use to have thick lashes and certain mascaras that I’ve used in the past caused my lash loss. So I’m pretty picky now when it comes to mascaras. But I’ve been hearing a lot of people raving about Benefit’s Bad Gal Mascara (US$19), so I decided to give it a shot.

Let’s start with the packaging.

I got the waterproof version. Its pretty slim, which I like since it can easily fit in your purse. I also like how the brush is curved unlike the regular formula. I put it next to my Sonia Kashuk spoolie brush so you can see the difference a bit. The brush makes easier for me to get in the inner corner of my eyes without poking my eye out. Its thicker outside and a little thinner inside.

When applied, it doesn’t weigh my lashes down after a few coats and doesn’t seem to clump like most waterproof mascaras would. I like how it defines, lengthens and separates my lashes as well. I love how it looks natural.

I’m sorry about the redness around my eyes. My allergies were acting up a little bit. Anyway, when wearing mascaras, my eyes tend to get irritated when I wear it all day. I’m happy to say that with this mascara, my eyes weren’t irritated at all. Though at the end of the day, I felt that my lashes were a bit dry. Maybe it might be different if a lash primer was used.

Normally, I wouldn’t use waterproof mascaras mainly because most of the ones I’ve tried always smudged on me. Plus, they’re such a pain to remove. With this mascara, I didn’t experience any smudging at all. I used my Target makeup remover (the Almay brand burned my eyelids – this Target brand worked much better!), and it removed all the mascara off my lashes. I like it and do recommend it to those who are still looking for a good waterproof mascara.

PROS: Lengthens, separates, smudge-proof & can be easily removed
CONS: Lashes can feel dry and stiff at the end of the day

A very small haul, mainly skin care and some small things. I wanted to wait until my MAC purchases came in, but I’ll just put that in a later post. I’m going to focus more on the skin care items that I purchased because they’re my current favorite items these past few weeks.

Lumene is a Nordic brand with a wide variety of skin care and cosmetics. Their skin care is sectioned off in age ranges.

I really like the cleanser – it doesn’t leave my skin all dry and tight, yet my skin feels clean and smooth. Those beauty drops in the far right are my favorite! I put this on before my moisturizer and it leaves my skin matte and helps my moisturizer absorb into my skin much faster. It also leaves my skin super smooth. As for the Time Freeze serum, I use that at night and apply it before I use my night cream. Its really soothing and it gives off a slight cooling sensation. I have noticed a difference in my skin. My skin has less dry patches (around my cheeks), it isn’t as oily (especially in the t-zone!) as it was before and my skin looks brighter and my skin’s texture has been much smoother. Plus, these items are very affordable, so go and give this line a look.

Ok, I know that there a lot of people out there who like the YesTo line. But honestly, I don’t really see what the hype is all about. This eye gel is the only product I have from this line and I wasn’t impressed. It cost US$15 and that isn’t including tax for that small thing. Yes, I know that eye products are a little more on the pricier side, but really, this is worth its price. It gave a cooling sensation, but that faded quickly after a few seconds. As it was absorbing, my eye area felt sticky and uncomfortable. It took long to sink in. I didn’t really see an improvement in my eye area. The Hanwoong Collagen Hydro Eyepatch worked much better than this and it cost much cheaper. Sorry YesTo lovers, but I not going to purchase anything else from this line. I’m just going to stick with Olay, Roc, Laneige and Shiseido.

I didn’t want to purchase any Jesse’s Girl products because I thought that they were too glittery for me. I’m not a big fan of shimmer and glitter as much as I used to be, but these colors were really nice and I couldn’t resist! And what I liked about them the most?

Look how packed it is – its crazy! But the new pots have a sifter now, so its not as packed as this one – but less messy.

You can’t really see here, but when you look at different angles, you see different colors. I especially love Sunlit Cactus! It has beautiful green and olive specs in it – gorgeous! These work wonderfully as highlighters and as blending colors.

Along with the pigments/shadows, I purchased Pretige eyeliners from there Smooth Minerals line. These pencils glide on very nicely and they don’t tug on your eyelid. I also got some MAC pigment samples and purchased an eyeliner brush from Stars Makeup Haven. Its nice and pretty thin, but I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet. Also, I bought the Olay Quench with the gradual tanner, but it’s not doing much for me. The TREsemme 24 Hour Body finishing spray is crap – total BS! It didn’t even hold my style all day, and my hair became flat after a few hours. I wouldn’t buy this again. Hopefully I can start doing some makeup looks here soon and thanks everyone for viewing and/or commenting! I hope you like my mini haul and reviews. Bye lovelies! ♥

So the Naked Honey Collection came out last week in Thursday, and the whole collection was alright. I only purchased one of the high-light powders. I initially wanted the Honey Light, but then I saw Golden Nectar, and it was gorgeous. You can’t see it in the picture now because I’ve been using it since I got it, haha. But it had a real nice shimmery pearlescent finish.

I actually purchased it because of the honeycomb pattern (yes, I’m a sucker for pretty things). There was a light spray on it, so it looked super shimmery, but after you swatch it, it comes off. When you first apply it the sheen is noticeable and it gets less prominent after a few uses.

I don’t know if you could see the light sheen in my hand. I swatched it over UDPP, but my camera didn’t seem to catch it. I also swatched it on a piece of paper so you could see the color. I actually hoped it was a bit more shimmery (like at the beginning), but this can be used as bronzer too – its a really nice color. I think this color is more suitable for lighter skintones since I’m sure it’ll show up better on their skin. Medium to Dark skintones can probably uses this as a blush. Its an all-over-powder, so you can pretty much use this however you like. I used this on my eyes as well, and it looked great.

I’ve always loved Atelier’s eyeshadows – they’re so pigmented even without a base! I especially love their Pro Cake eyeshadows – most of them are matte (which I am currently loving), and its much bigger than MAC eyeshadows. MAC eyeshadows are about 1.5grams while with Atelier, its 3grams. They have such a wide range of colors, I don’t even know where to start! Though it is hard to order – especially if you’re not in Europe, but fret not, you can still purchase their amazing products. I’ve been looking around to see how I can order them and I finally found out how I could!

So, if you’re an Atelier lover like me and would like to purchase their products, here’s how you do it:

For: US, United Kindom &Canada
To order select on the site, copy the codes and quantities and send by email to atelier@ateliermaquillage.com with the address of delivery. You will receive by return a valuation with shipment costs and the way to pay your order.

If you are not from the US, UK or Canada and would still like to get a hold of their products, you can email them personally. They reply fairly quick, and I’m sure you’d be able to purchase them somehow.

To view their products, do visit Atelier Maquillage.

Now, MAC introduces their Limited Edition Summer Collection called, “Naked Honey”. This collection will be available June 11, 2009 in North America and July 2009 International.

Following the example of their fabled Queen, Cleopatra, Egyptians bathed in honey and milk. Queen Anne of England used it to silken her hair; from the Ancient Greeks to the Roman Empire, honey has never lost its regal, ever-amber lustre. We love the luxury of its sensual essence…but we also know that it’s a highly efficient and wholesome humectant and healer.

An aromatic journey that traces honey’s fragrant heart back to summer’s sweetest blooms. Energy starts to buzz, spirits soar, light floral and woodsy notes float toward an electric finale. Sweet and sexy all the way.

    – Creations: Africanimal ($22.50 U.S. / $28.50 CDN)
