A very small haul, mainly skin care and some small things. I wanted to wait until my MAC purchases came in, but I’ll just put that in a later post. I’m going to focus more on the skin care items that I purchased because they’re my current favorite items these past few weeks.

Lumene is a Nordic brand with a wide variety of skin care and cosmetics. Their skin care is sectioned off in age ranges.

I really like the cleanser – it doesn’t leave my skin all dry and tight, yet my skin feels clean and smooth. Those beauty drops in the far right are my favorite! I put this on before my moisturizer and it leaves my skin matte and helps my moisturizer absorb into my skin much faster. It also leaves my skin super smooth. As for the Time Freeze serum, I use that at night and apply it before I use my night cream. Its really soothing and it gives off a slight cooling sensation. I have noticed a difference in my skin. My skin has less dry patches (around my cheeks), it isn’t as oily (especially in the t-zone!) as it was before and my skin looks brighter and my skin’s texture has been much smoother. Plus, these items are very affordable, so go and give this line a look.

Ok, I know that there a lot of people out there who like the YesTo line. But honestly, I don’t really see what the hype is all about. This eye gel is the only product I have from this line and I wasn’t impressed. It cost US$15 and that isn’t including tax for that small thing. Yes, I know that eye products are a little more on the pricier side, but really, this is worth its price. It gave a cooling sensation, but that faded quickly after a few seconds. As it was absorbing, my eye area felt sticky and uncomfortable. It took long to sink in. I didn’t really see an improvement in my eye area. The Hanwoong Collagen Hydro Eyepatch worked much better than this and it cost much cheaper. Sorry YesTo lovers, but I not going to purchase anything else from this line. I’m just going to stick with Olay, Roc, Laneige and Shiseido.

I didn’t want to purchase any Jesse’s Girl products because I thought that they were too glittery for me. I’m not a big fan of shimmer and glitter as much as I used to be, but these colors were really nice and I couldn’t resist! And what I liked about them the most?

Look how packed it is – its crazy! But the new pots have a sifter now, so its not as packed as this one – but less messy.

You can’t really see here, but when you look at different angles, you see different colors. I especially love Sunlit Cactus! It has beautiful green and olive specs in it – gorgeous! These work wonderfully as highlighters and as blending colors.

Along with the pigments/shadows, I purchased Pretige eyeliners from there Smooth Minerals line. These pencils glide on very nicely and they don’t tug on your eyelid. I also got some MAC pigment samples and purchased an eyeliner brush from Stars Makeup Haven. Its nice and pretty thin, but I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet. Also, I bought the Olay Quench with the gradual tanner, but it’s not doing much for me. The TREsemme 24 Hour Body finishing spray is crap – total BS! It didn’t even hold my style all day, and my hair became flat after a few hours. I wouldn’t buy this again. Hopefully I can start doing some makeup looks here soon and thanks everyone for viewing and/or commenting! I hope you like my mini haul and reviews. Bye lovelies! ♥

So I actually got this for free when Dillard’s was having this free giveaway thing months ago. Macy’s also had a giveaway with Sarah Jessica Parker’s body wash and perfume. I’ve heard some good raves about this night serum, plus some magazines have featured it as well. And since it was for free, I decided to give it a shot.

I got the free full-sized Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex (retails for US$47.50 for 1.0 oz). You are to apply the serum on your face an neck before your moisturizer and its supposed to help repair visible damage and help protect the skin from future damage. I heard that some people woke up with a “glowing” face. Its Dermatologist-tested, Ophthalmologist-tested, Fragrance-free and Non-acnegenic.

Some information on this:

Exclusive Chronolux™ Technology

  • Repairs the appearance of past damage.
  • Addresses damaging effects before they become permanent.
  • You’ll see a visible improvement in the signs of aging-specifically lines, uneven skintone and immediate hydration.
  • Enhanced Environmental Repair

  • Neutralizes up to 90%* of environmentally generated free radicals before they can affect skin’s appearance.
  • That’s key, because environmental assaults such as UV, smoke, pollution and even emotional stress are the #1 cause of premature signs of aging.
  • Our advanced technology repairs the appearance of damage caused by every major environmental assault.
  • Continuous Hydration

  • Creates the optimal environment for repair with nature’s long-proven moisture magnet Hyaluronic Acid.
  • Clinical tests prove skin’s levels of moisturization increase dramatically.
  • Soothes daily irritation and builds a rich anti-oxidant reserve to help replenish skin’s natural protectants.
  • Think of it as “insurance” for younger, healthier-looking skin, today and tomorrow.

As you can see above, the product is pretty small. I was a little hesitant to try this since at the time my face was still breaking out. This serum didn’t make it any better.

I don’t know if you can see it on the right but, the serum is of a light peach color and goes on clear. When you apply the serum, it gives a nice colling sensation to the skin. The smell isn’t very pleasant – it had sort of a old musty smell to it. I’m a little sensitive to smells so this was a turn-off. But the good thing about this was it didn’t leave my skin dry. I woke the next day and everything seemed ok. Though I didn’t notice any “glow” or immediate change in my skin. I used for about a week and still didn’t see a change in my skin, but I started to breakout a little bit. I’m always giving products second chances, so I gave it a try for a few more days and my skin didn’t seem to get any better. So I just gave it to my boyfriend’s mother since she also got one and it seemed to work well for her. I don’t know if anyone had the same issue like me, and I think this product is better suited for more mature skin.

PROS: Gives off a cooling sensation, doesn’t leave the skin dry
CONS: Smells funky, gave me blemishes

I have a mini haul coming up but I’ll post that after I’ve posted maybe a few more reviews. Until then, take care everyone. 🙂

So I made a haul post last month and I must say, this is one of my favorite moisturizers this year. My HG moisturizer is the Olay Complete. I have sensitive combination/oily skin, so I’m scared of trying new products because when my skin freaks out – it freaks out. But to my surprise, it works great for my skin – especially now since its summer. The smell is really nice – its a cross between a grape and some kind of berry. I like the formulation of this and it didn’t leave my skin oily at all. It has a mouse-like texture and feels really light. The thing I like most about it is that it absorbs into your skin pretty quick. What I love about this moisturizer as well is that it also contains dimethicone, which can be found in face primers. I usually use a face primer or my homemade mixing medium to help my mineral foundation stay on longer, but I don’t use it much anymore because my foundation lasts all day with the moisturizer alone! Some of my acne has gone away after using this as well. I totally recommend this for those who have oily skin and for those who are looking for a good moisturizer during the summer. I’m not so sure about the winter since it does absorb into the skin fairly quick and you might have reapply a few times. People with dry skin might not benefit from this moisturizer much since the consistency of it isn’t thick enough.

PROS: Lightweight, absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave your skin oily
CONS: Maybe too light for the winter, bulky packaging

Random? Yes, I’m going to talk a bit about food right now. So I was super hungry yesterday and was craving some chicken wings. I wanted to try the Atomic wings, so I bought that along with Cajun wings, and let me tell you – the Cajun wings taste so much better than Atomic. Atomic was crappy as hell. Its just chicken super drenched in all the spices you can think of. It’s not even that spicy like a lot of people has said it was. It did have a little “kick” to it, but not a “fire in the hole” flavor. My friend actually coughed a bit caused the spices were a little overwhelming, but he said it wasn’t that spicy either. My boyfriends’ dad could make a spicer chicken wing than that, haha. Aside from the spices, it had a super sour taste to it too (thank goodness I had some ranch around). So those of you who heared about Atomic wings being super hot and have yet to try it out, give it a shot. Its not so “Atomic” as people said it is.

Everyone wants their skin to look its best – naturally. So I think a lot of you would like to know about this. I joined this giveaway contest on Leon’s website and I think you all should join too. Honestly, I’ve been planning to buy her e-book, and since she’s giving away a copy of it once again, I can’t give up this opportunity, haha. I actually tried some of her DIY remedies and they work pretty good. I’ve also heard some good raves on her Lash Mantra as well, and the good thing is – everything’s all natural. So anyone who’s wanting to try the natural DIY skincare route, definitely check out her awesome website and join this giveaway!

A lot of us already know that yogurt is good for our bodies. Yogurt is also known as a beauty food and is a good effective remedy for acne. Yogurt contains lactic acid (an alpha-hydroxy acid) and a number of nutrients that may mildly stimulate collagen production in the skin. It is both a dietary component and a natural remedy that contains numerous antibiotic properties. It has the ability to make your skin smoother, softer and less prone to acne breakouts. Yogurt can also double as a cleanser due to its antifungal properties.

I recommend plain non-fat yogurt because it has because its lighter on the skin and won’t be too overwhelming – especially for combination/oily skin. Normal to dry skin can try low-fat yogurt. I use yogurt with aspirin, since I don’t like the stickiness of honey much. It does make your skin soft and supple.

Some remedies to get you going:

    • Honey, Egg Yolk & Yogurt Mask
It will exfoliate dead skin cells and gives your skin extra moisture. Safe for the eye area.
2 Tablespoons of raw, natural honey
      1 Egg Yolk
      2 Tablespoons Plain Yogurt
Mix everything together and apply all over your face. Leave the mask on for about 30 minutes and rinse off well with warm water.

    • Yogurt and Oatmeal Mask
      2 Tablespoons of Plain Yogurt
      1 Tablespoon of Oatmeal
      1 Tablespoon of Honey
After washing your face, massage the paste on your skin in a circular motion. Then leave it on for about 2 minutes, then rinse off.

    • Yogurt and Aloe Mask
      1/2 Cup of Plain Yogurt
2 Tablespoons of Aloe Gel (or a fresh aloe leaf)
Mix ingredients together to form a paste (using fresh aloe leaf – remove the skin and mash the pulp). After washing your face, apply all over and wait for 3 mintues then rinse off.

    • Yogurt and Orange Juice Whitening Treatment
      1 Tablespoon of Yogurt
      4-5 of Orange Juice
Mix and apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off. Use everyday for a month.

Remember that each person is different. What works for one person, may not work for another. Do experiment and test out certain amounts to see what’s good for you. Hey dearies! Here’s the haul post I promised. Nothing big, but I just wanted to share what I bought and if there’s anything you would like to know, or if maybe you want a review on a certain product, let me know!

    – CB05 Rouge Cream Blush in Glow
    – Get Even in #02
    – Erase Paste in #02
    – “That Gal” Brightening Face Primer

Let’s start with skin care first.

I am absolutely in love with these two items. I used the mask for about 3 days, and my pores have significantly gotten smaller! LOVE! I really like the moisturizer too – it absorbs into skin really quick, and you don’t even need that much on your face. I’m going to be writing more about this in my next post.

    Sonia Kashuk Highlighting Brush

This is a really good brush, and by looking at the caption I put yes – I do use this for mineral makeup as well. This is because I find that it really evens out the application. For example, sometimes I put too much on my forward and chin, I would swirl this brush around and the synthetic white fibers would take away the excess. Very soft, and great for cream blushes and liquid/cream foundation. Its not flimsy either, which is also good.

    Benefit “That Gal”

I’ve always wanted to try this because I really liked the packaging. Plus, I’ve never seen a pink primer (my Bare Escentuals one is clear) before. Actually, after I bought this, I found a similar primer at Target by I think the brand was Pixi (?) – I don’t remember, I have to check back on that.

Benefit “Get Even” & “Erase Paste”

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with Erase Paste – I thought it was a little bigger. I don’t think this was worth 28 dollars, really. Nonetheless, its really creamy and works fairly well. Get Even is very smooth and does not appear chalky.

Now onto my NYX products! 🙂 Here’s the package it came in.

I do appreciate that they take care of their items, because I know my products would be in top condition when it reaches me. I’m from California and I believe NYX is located in L.A., and it took about a week and a few days to arrive.

Okay, now with the brushes. I was a bit disappointed because a lot of the things on their website (including swatches) don’t look the same as they do in person. So I do recommend to anyone who has not tried NYX and want to order, do go look around for swatches before ordering anything. Also, for their eyeshadows, anything that has the name “HOT” before it – watch out, it can be a bit chalky. Anyway, the B23 All Purpose brush was shown to be much shorter and I was planning to use it with the pencil technique. But it wasn’t flat enough for my taste, though it still works. The B15 Smokie brush was too fat and full to be a pencil brush, so I’m going to be using that for blending instead. The B12 crease brush is perfect for my eyes and it fits perfectly into my crease. So I recommend the crease brush.

I use the Sonia Kashuk brush with the cream blush and it works great. I don’t even need a ton – just one dab into that blush and I’m good for both cheeks! The blush highly pigmented so anyone who wants to try out NYX’s cream blushes, do use a light hand and gradually build the color. I really recommend buying “Glow” because it will give you that nice natural rosy flush. I also adore the pen liner – its way better than the L’Oréal one (IMO) and its really rich in color. Great to put in your purse or travel bag.

So, that’s it for this haul! I’m not going to talk about the other things I bought since there’s really not much to say about it. I also ordered some things from Stars Makeup Haven (I bought my palettes from there!) and I was planning to order from E.L.F (this would be my first time puchasing their stuff!). I was interested in their Studio brushes (I’m a brush fanatic – so don’t mind me, haha) and I was looking at some things and I’m not sure what to buy. So any recommendations would be awesome, thanks! ♥

Next post would probably be a haul about the Benefit items I purchased as well as the Merlot moisturizer, so do look out for that! Hope you have a great day and weekend (for those who’s last day of school is today), and take care!

“Pure” and “natural” might be the buzzwords of today’s hottest products, but don’t believe everything you read, says Stacy Malkan, author of “Not Just A Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry”. In fact, according to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, because the personal care industry is unregulated, even the word “organic” can be slapped on products chock-full of chemicals that can be dangerous to your health and the environment. But who has the time to read through the laundry list of ingredients on the back of your products? If you do — great. If not, use this cheat sheet to know what ingredients to avoid, and what ones are the best earth-friendly alternatives.
